I just returned from a weekend on a farm. I was completely unplugged the whole time. I didn’t even know what time it was as my wrist watch has yet to be replaced after it broke a few weeks ago. It was good. Very good. I think the most impressive part was that I fell asleep quick and easy without using electronics to clear my brain. So often I wonder at how technology really should fit into my life. And if it fits in too much. Does it affect my sleep? Does it make things more complicated? Less complicated?

On Friday I turned in my application for the computer science program at the University of Washington Bothell campus. It’s been a long time coming but I feel good about this timing. As I jump deeper into CS I’m sure I’ll be thinking about the balance of technology in my life a lot more. I hope that by sharing my struggles through this blog others can join me on this journey.

Thank you.

I’ve been quiet for a while.

Things have been quiet for a few weeks. August is like that. My ‘I’ key broke on my keyboard. Yes, that is my biggest news. Yup.

Microsoft did send out a new update for my phone. I don’t really know what the changes were, most were invisible to me. So non-news. The fall final release of Microsoft 8 is exciting. But that is in October. Although it definitely excuses and explains the quietness. And I don’t have much comment on the new Microsoft Logo – I think my biggest shock is that the old one is that old. It seemed modern to me. Maybe I’m old.
